Mahindra & Mahindra plans to sell its electric vehicles (EVs) through its existing sales network, allowing customers to choose between internal combustion engine (ICE) cars and EVs. The company has launched two new models, BE 6e and XEV 9e, with deliveries expected in February-March next year. A specialized team will be created at sales outlets to enhance EV sales and service, while the focus will initially be on the domestic market before exploring export opportunities.
Mahindra has launched two new electric SUVs, the BE 6E and XEV 9E, priced at Rs 18.9 lakh and Rs 21.9 lakh, respectively, featuring battery packs of 59 kWh and 79 kWh with a claimed range of over 500 km. The company aims for 30% of its Passenger Vehicle sales to come from electric models by 2027, positioning itself against Tata Motors, which currently holds a 65% market share in India's EV sector. Tata's sales have been affected by the expiration of certain subsidies, despite strong consumer interest in its diverse EV lineup.
Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) and Maruti Suzuki are gearing up to challenge Tata Motors' dominance in India's electric vehicle (EV) market. M&M has launched two new EVs and invested significantly in the ecosystem, while Maruti is set to debut the E-Vitara SUV in 2025. Despite Tata Motors holding a 58% market share, down from 74% a year ago, analysts suggest that the competition is intensifying as rivals prepare for a more active role in the EV landscape.
